Isla Palenque is a 400-acre, protected tropical island, located in Panama’s Gulf of Chiriquí and
adjacent to a National Marine Park. It is a rare place – seemingly lifted from the pages of a
Robinson Crusoe novel. The island is a haven for tropical wildlife, rich with primary forests and
offering seven secluded beaches, hidden caves, diverse wetlands and a sacred history of
archaeological significance. Preserving the wild beauty of the island is our guiding principle and
the resort’s footprint is intentionally small; just eight beachfront casitas and one 6-bedroom
Villa Estate are tucked along the secluded shoreline, each offering direct beach access, privacy
and peace.
Managed by The Cayuga Collection, Isla Palenque embodies their ethos of blending sustainable
practices with unstuffy, barefoot luxury to offer a welcoming and authentic hospitality
experience. Staff are 100% local and mainly from Chiriquí and the Ngäbe-Buglé indigenous
comarca. A skilled team of artisan woodworkers creates all of Isla Palenque’s furniture in an
on-island workshop, using island hardwoods that fall naturally. Food is sourced from the island’s
own small farm and gardens, and the seafood is truly “catch of the day”, purchased directly from
local fishermen through the Dock-to-dish program. All single-use plastics are banned and all
guest experiences – from foraging excursions to kayaking and whale watching – invite guests to
connect with the natural and human heritage of our island & marine ecosystem.
