Classic Costa Rica

Early morning transfer in a van (shared with other guests) from your hotel to Tortuga Lodge in Tortuguero National Park. The ride from San Jose with one stop at Rancho Roberto and continue to Pavona where you will embark the boat for a ride to the lodge where the hotel is located in one of the last large areas of tropical rainforest in Central America.
Upon arrival at Tortuga Lodge & Gardens, additional tours are available (at additional cost) or join our free 4pm walk in the gardens with one of our Naturalist Guides, hike the trails behind the lodge on your own (be sure to be out of the forest by 4:45pm) or slip into a hammock set between the rainforest and the river.

Distance: 2 hr and 30 min by car continue 1hr and 20min by boat

Join our free early morning bird and nature walk. At 6:00am one of our Naturalist Guides will be waiting for guests in reception, return to the lodge by 7am.  
After breakfast, leave the lodge by boat (shared with other guests) with your naturalist guide to explore the creeks of the National Park. The morning hours are especially active in the rain forest, when wildlife is hungry and in search of their energy source for the day.  
This tour is a three-hour trip into the back water lagoons and creeks of Tortuguero National Park.
In the afternoon, your guide will take you on a tour of the village of Tortuguero.
You are also welcome to join The Words Adventure Program where you help local kids learn English (free, but reservations are recommended) or join our free 4pm walk in the gardens with one of our Naturalist Guides.  

Traveling in July to September, you can add a Turtle Nesting Expedition to your package.

After breakfast, transfer (shared with other guests) to Arenal if you have chosen to have transfers to Arenal, (4.5-5-hour van, 1-hour boat) or if you have chosen the car rental, it will be ready for you to pick it up at the designated stop (Rancho Roberto).
The driver will be Spanish speaking, and it’s important to keep in mind that this transfer will not be accompanied by sightseeing or wildlife stops. We offer private transfers at considerable additional cost. Let us know.

Distance: 4 hr 30 min by car and 1 hr by boat

After an early breakfast at your hotel, you will depart from your hotel for your half day Arenal Volcano Hike Tour. As Costa Rica's youngest volcano, it gained international notoriety in 1968 for its sudden eruption. Your pick-up time will be reconfirmed by the tour company. Once the tour is finished your will be dropped off at the hotel.

Enjoy your afternoon at your leisure in Arenal, or perhaps, spend the evening at the Thermal Hot Springs that includes dinner (optional not included in the itinerary).

After breakfast you will be picked up from your hotel and taken to Monteverde if your chose the private transportation, pick up times will be reconfirmed by our representative the night before, you will be driven to Arenal Lake, at the foot of the volcano, where you will take a shared boat ride to the opposite side of the lake. From here you will be transported over gravel roads with beautiful vistas of the Tilaran Mountain Range, to your hotel in Monteverde. Alternatively; however, if you have the car rental you will drive around the lake and up the mountain on zig zagging roads with breathtaking views.

Enjoy your day at your leisure in Monteverde, after breakfast at your hotel, we suggest some half day tours. The guided walk of Santa Elena Cloud Forest Reserve is highly recommended, and if you enjoyed zip lining or the hanging bridges in Monteverde or any other tours offer in Monteverde or didn't have an opportunity to try, here's another chance. If your hotel has private trails, don't miss taking a walk just after dark or right before dawn when the cloud forest wildlife is at its most active.

After breakfast you will be transferred to the beaches of Guanacaste in the north west of the Costa Rica. Your transferred will reconfirmed the night before by our representative, or you are driving in your own you can leave after hotel check out time. During your drive to Liberia, you will enjoy the beautiful scenery. The rest of the day is yours to discover the many options in this coastal paradise. Spend the evening at leisure

After breakfast or depending what time is your flight back home, you will drive to the airport and give yourself plenty time to return the car at the car rental and get a shuttle ride to the airport for your flight back home. Please insure you are at the airport at least 2 hours prior to your departure. Or if you have arranged for private transportation you will be picked up from the hotel at the time reconfirmed the night before by our representative to bring you to the airport on time for your flight.
